In Reply To Tim, I found that the ECU open loop operation is based on posted by DVDBURN (MD) on August 31, 2013 at 09:47 AM

Message "The ECU open loop operation is based on the initial reading of the temp sensor when you first start the car. In other words, if the ECU receives a signal from the temp sensor at startup, the ECU will use that value to calculate the time it needs to switch from open to closed loop operation or the time it takes to reach 140 degrees."

If there is no signal from the temp sensor the ECU will still switch from open to closed loop operation in 4 to 4.5 minutes. It will just run like crap because it isn't receiving a signal from the temp sensor to calculate for best efficiency. If you monitor the temp sensor with diagnostic software with the temp sensor disconnected you'll see that it appears to always be 176 degrees after 6 minutes of the car running.
